| There's
a progressive jackpot in Caribbean Stud poker
that adds excitement to the game, and allows
the player the opportunity to win on very
good hands even if the dealer doesn't qualify.
It's a separate wager from the ante and call
bets. Prior to the dealing of the cards, players
have the option to drop a $1 casino coin into
the progressive drop slot located on the layout
in front of each player. This is strictly
a side bet that you will be dealt a flush
or higher poker hand. The progressive jackpot
payoffs are:
Royal flush 100% of jackpot
Strait flush 10% of jackpot
Four of a kind $500
Full house $100
Flush $50
The jackpot grows as more coins are played
into the progressive drop slot. A video display
above each table indicates the amount of the
jackpot, which often exceeds $100,000. Some
casinos, such as the Stratosphere Casino in
Las Vegas, seed the jackpot following a win
at $100,000, rather than lower amounts.
Keep in mind that once you make the optional
progressive jackpot bet, you will win the
current jackpot amount appropriate to your
hand whether or not your hand beats the dealer,
or the dealer's hand qualifies with an Ace,
King, or higher. If your hand qualifies for
a progressive jackpot, be sure to inform the
dealer. They have been known to forget to
pay this bonus, especially if their hand doesn't
qualify, so be alert.
It is theoretically possible to beat this
game by card counting. Because of this casinos
have implemented two rules which make card
counting futile. First, you are not allowed
to look at the other player's cards and second,
you are not allowed to play more than one
hand. |
