Poker Games Variations |
| The
four most popular of the poker variation games
will be discussed in this: Caribbean Stud,
Let It Ride, Three Card Poker, and Pal Gow
Poker. With the exception of Pal Gow Poker,
it is impossible to gain a player advantage
in these games. And in Pai Gow Poker, only
the most skilled professional with a huge
bankroll is able to achieve this advantage.
But the games are fun and easy to play and
represent an interesting diversion for recreational
and serious gamblers alike.
These games differ from traditional poker
in that you are not playing against the other
players-in Caribbean Stud, Three Card Poker,
and Pal Gow Poker you are playing against
the dealer; in Let It Ride, you are simply
trying to get the best hand possible, no dealer
involved. All you need to know about traditional
poker to understand these games is the hierarchy
of poker hands, which is shown in Table 3.
All games are played on a blackjack like table,
which will accommodate up to seven players,
and all are played with a p2-card deck (in
Pal Gow Poker, a joker is added to the standard
52-card deck). To keep the game moving along,
an automatic shuffling machine is used. Cards
are dealt face down and you are not allowed
to show your cards to the other players. |

Poker Games - Caribbean Stud |
| The
odds against "inning the jackpot are
astronomical, almost like winning a lottery,
so I advise against playing this game. But,
if you are playing just for fun, are ahead
for the session, and want to throw away a
dollar on every hand, then go for it.
Caution. If you win the every hand, jackpot
or portion thereof, you must show your hand
if the dealer doesn't qualify. If you don't,
he'll scoop up your facedown cards and you've
lost out!
Bet Size. Regarding your bet size, use my
advice in about the betting decision. Realize
that you're playing against a house edge of
5 percent and go easy. My advice for playing
your hand is simply fold if your hand is less
than an ace-king. If it is ace king or better,
play the hand. There are complicated strategies
for playing your hand depending on the dealer's
up-card. But they take very little off that
big house edge of 5 percent. So forget about
them and enjoy the game! |
