| If
you don't bust it's up to the dealer to beat you.
She turns over her cards and draws according to
a strict rule. The dealer must stand on seventeen
or over, and she must hit on sixteen or under. She
has no decision in the matter. Some casinos require
a dealer to hit a soft seventeen, which is any hand
that totals seventeen but includes an ace counted
as eleven. A hard seventeen would be a hand without
an ace or one in which the ace is counted as one.
When your hand isn't a bust and the dealer goes
over twenty-one, you win. Your point total doesn't
matter. If the dealer doesn't bust, your point total
suddenly matters a lot. You'll either win, push,
or lose.
Losing bets are taken, winners are paid, the cards
are collected, and the process begins again.
